This position is a great fit for someone interested in education, culture, agriculture, and community programming, and who wants to gain hands-on experience in developing and delivering meaningful learning opportunities for youth and the public.
About the Role
You’ll work alongside our team and community partners, to help shape and support programming that connects people to land, food, culture, and learning. This includes supporting curriculum development, workshops, and hands-on programming that reflects Indigenous knowledge systems and land-based practices.
This role is especially well-suited for students or early-career individuals looking to gain meaningful, hands-on experience in a supportive learning environment. You’ll be part of a small team, working closely with another participant in this same role, allowing for shared learning, collaboration, and peer support throughout the placement.

- Assisting with the development of curriculum and activity plans focused on land-based learning, foodways, and seasonal teachings
- Supporting Indigenous-led workshops, storytelling sessions, and youth programming
- Creating educational materials, displays, and hands-on activities
- Preparing spaces and materials for programs and events
- Supporting garden spaces, plant care, and harvesting activities (as guided)
- Working with staff and Knowledge Keepers to ensure programming is respectful and thoughtfully delivered
- Assisting with registration, setup, cleanup, and participant engagement
- Helping document programming through notes, photos, and resource development

This role is designed to build real, transferable skills, including:
- Curriculum development and program design
- Workshop facilitation and public speaking
- Cultural competency and reconciliation awareness
- Agricultural and land-based learning practices
- Team collaboration and communication
- Event and program coordination
Who You Are
Must have proven knowledge of the Haudenosaunee, Anishinaabeg, Huron-Wendat & Mississaugas or the Credit First Nation and Six Nations of the Grand River.
You don’t need to have done this before — but you should be:
- Curious and open to learning
- Respectful and community-minded
- Comfortable working outdoors and with people
- Interested in education, culture, agriculture, and community programming
