Summer Student Employment
General Labourer
Location: Main Dock - Happy Valley-Goose Bay, NL
This will be an opportunity for Students to gain practical, real-life experience that helps them understand workplace expectations and build confidence. The student will be responsible for monitoring and controlling the flow of traffic in and out of the cargo drop-off zone, as well as maintaining the cleanliness of the office buildings and grounds.
Responsibilities
- Greet visitors at the gate and direct them to the appropriate location.
- Ensure that the entrance and perimeter fencing is kept free of debris.
- Help Unload trucks or containers, check packing slips, and verify quantities and condition of shipment.
- Keeping aisles clear, stocking shelves, and maintain a clean, safe workspace.
- Follows safety procedures while working under the direction of a qualified supervisor.
- Other duties as assigned by the employer.

- Ability to work both in a team environment and independently
- Volunteer or school leadership roles may be considered relevant experience
Eligibility Requirements
- Be a beneficiary of the Labrador Inuit Land Claims Agreement
- Be at least 15 years of age at the start of the employment period
- Have previously been enrolled in a secondary or post-secondary educational institution and intend to return to studies following the completion of the summer employment term.
- Possess a valid Social Insurance Number
