WSG Energy Services is looking for Warm/Cold End CSU Supervisors to join us for projects in British Columbia.
The Warm/Cold End CSU Supervisor will have developed advanced and specialized expertise within an analytical/scientific area to perform the most complex Commissioning-specific work and is knowledgeable of other disciplines. They will identify and resolve technical operational and organizational problems that impact effectiveness.
The Warm/Cold End CSU Supervisor impacts the level of service and the team's ability to meet quality and timeliness objectives. They supervise technical employees and are accountable for the team's results within the commissioning discipline. The Warm/Cold supervisor adapts departmental plans and priorities to address resource and operational challenges. Their decisions are guided by policies, procedures and business plans as well as guidance from management.
Job Responsibilities
Planning & Execution
- Plan, coordinate, and execute commissioning activities.
- Verify mechanical completion and overall system readiness.
- Ensure safe execution of all commissioning tasks.
- Support system startup and performance testing.
- Deliver complete documentation for system handover.
Pre-Commissioning & Verification
- Review vendor documentation and manuals.
- Verify installation against Issued for Construction (IFC) drawings.
- Ensure redlines and as-built documentation are properly incorporated.
- Conduct walkdowns to confirm:
- Installation completeness
- Punch list generation and tracking
- Categorize punch items (A/B/C or priority-based).
Testing & Commissioning Activities
- Oversee flushing, cleaning, and blowing of process and utility piping.
- Supervise high-pressure leak testing.
- Coordinate electrical checks (meggering, continuity, grounding).
- Coordinate instrument checks and calibration.
- Perform functional testing of:
- Electrical systems (energization, protection checks)
- Instrumentation and control systems (I/O checks, logic validation)
- Mechanical systems (rotation checks, lubrication, alignment)
- Conduct interlock and trip testing.
- Verify control sequences (PLC/DCS logic).
- Validate alarm and shutdown systems.
- Ensure proper execution of energization procedures in coordination with electrical and safety teams.
- Ensure compliance with LOTO (Lockout/Tagout) and permit-to-work procedures.
Startup & Operations Support
- Assist operations teams during initial startup.
- Monitor system parameters and performance.
- Troubleshoot issues and resolve deficiencies.
- Ensure smooth transition from commissioning to operations.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with site safety rules and procedures.
- Participate in:
- Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and HAZOP reviews
- Permit to Work (PTW) system
- Verify safety systems (ESD, Fire & Gas, relief systems) are functional.
- Promote a zero-incident safety culture.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain commissioning dossiers, including:
- Checklists
- Test records
- Calibration certificates
- Prepare system turnover packages.
- Prepare daily commissioning reports.
- Perform punch list tracking and provide status updates.
- Report progress against project schedules.
- Confirm all systems are complete and tested prior to handover.
- Ensure punch list items are resolved or properly documented.
- Compile final documentation for system turnover.
Training
- Conduct training sessions for operations personnel.
- Ensure the timely completion of all mandatory training requirements for self and team members.
Coordination & Interfaces
- Interface and coordinate with:
- Construction teams
- Engineering and design teams
- Vendors and subcontractors
- Operations and maintenance teams
- HSE department
Compliance & Leadership
- Lead the implementation, enforcement, and verification of compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Ensure employees understand their responsibilities and authority to effectively implement company requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering field or equivalent technical experience.
- Five (5+) years of demonstrated experience in Commissioning Supervision within the EPCI industry.
- Strong knowledge of commissioning processes and procedures, including experience managing commissioning work packs from initiation through to handover.
- Familiarity with industry regulations, standards, and codes applicable to commissioning activities.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and coordination skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment.
- Proficiency in software applications such as Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and commissioning management systems.
