Role Description The Installer Service Technician for security systems is a full-time, on-site role based in the Greater Calgary Metropolitan Area. This role involves installing, configuring, and testing security systems, including physical devices and associated software, at client locations. The technician will perform routine maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting to ensure systems operate reliably and meet security requirements. Day-to-day responsibilities include field service calls, system upgrades, and documentation of work performed, while collaborating closely with clients to explain system functionality and address service inquiries. The role also requires adherence to safety standards, company procedures, and quality expectations during all installation and service activities.
Qualifications
- Strong Maintenance & Repair skills for security systems and related hardware.
- Proven Troubleshooting abilities to diagnose and resolve technical issues efficiently.
- Experience in Field Service, including on-site installations and service visits.
- Solid Customer Service capabilities to communicate clearly, manage expectations, and provide user guidance.
- General Maintenance skills for ongoing system care and performance optimization.
- Knowledge of electronic security systems (e.g., access control, CCTV, intrusion detection) and related software.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and installation manuals.
- Comfort working with hand and power tools, and following workplace safety practices.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel within the Greater Calgary Metropolitan Area for field assignments.
- Relevant technical diploma, apprenticeship, or equivalent experience in electronics, security systems, or a related field.
A technician will provide excellent customer service and take great pride in doing quality work with the following principal duties:
- Install and maintain security systems hardware and software (including running conduit and pulling cabling, programming and calibrating devices and controllers).
- Trouble shoot, identify and resolve problems and provide ongoing training and support for customers.
- Responsible for ongoing system maintenance and alarm testing and verification.
