To respond to the priorities of the Government of Ontario through the passage of the Bill 5, Protect Ontario by Unleashing Our Economy Act 2025, the resource may be partially assigned to Bill 5 related projects or initiatives on an as needed basis.
“This position is listed as “Onsite”; the resource is expected to work 7.25 hours per calendar day between the standard working hours of 8:00-5:00 PM (excluding lunch breaks) every Monday to Friday inclusive at the identified OPS office location”.
Creating physical database designs and operates and administers the database management system (DBMS) including database optimization, capacity planning, installation and migration, database design, performance tuning, backup and recovery
General Skills:
1) 10 + years experience in
- one or more operating systems
- one or more database technologies
- In the use of information retrieval packages and proficiency with query languages
- In monitoring and enforcing database rules
- Incident, Problem, Change, Configuration and capacity planning Management procedures
- Experience in Cloud migration
2) Experience with one or more communications protocols
3 )Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills; verbal and written communication skills; and interpersonal skills
4) A team player with a track record for meeting deadlines
Desirable Skills:
- Experience with distributed data systems
- Experience with middleware technologies such Web logic, OEM middleware, etc.
- Experience with researching and implementing cyber security vulnerability remediations
- Awareness of emerging IT trends and directions
- Knowledge and understanding of Information Management principles, concepts, policies and practices
- Experience in Database Administration, Maintenance and Optimization and vendor support services.
- Experience and expert knowledge in technology and/or application required including installation, configuration, maintenance, upgrade (technology stack) and cloning
- Additional Skills for Case Management and ERP Experience in designing/developing an automated data distribution mechanism
- Knowledge and understanding of object-oriented analysis and design techniques.
- Experience in developing enterprise architecture deliverables (e.g. models)
- Knowledge and understanding of Ontario Government Enterprise Architecture processes and practice
- Experience in impact analysis, implementation planning and implementation of technology or suite specific patches, maintenance packs and releases, and technology stack patch sets and releases
- Experience in technical design, planning and implementation of specific technology or suite
