We are investing in the next stage of our growth and modernizing our operations, and we are seeking a service-oriented General Manager to own the business's overall performance and help shape its future.
This is a high-impact role for a strategic, hands-on manufacturing leader who is as comfortable in the boardroom as on the plant floor. You will lead the entire operation – spanning manufacturing, sales, shipping, quality, health & safety, and continuous improvement – and serve as the key link between the board and the leadership team.

As General Manager, you will be accountable for the overall leadership and performance of Watford Roof Truss, including:
Strategic & business leadership
- Set and communicate a clear short-‑ and long-term direction aligned with the board goals and market realities.
- Develop annual and multi‑year business plans, defining priorities, targets, risks, and required investments.
- Translate business goals into a clear operating plan and measurable objectives across commercial, operational, financial, and people dimensions.
Operational oversight & alignment
- Lead safe, efficient, customer‑focused operations across manufacturing, sales, shipping, quality, and support functions.
- Ensure staffing, materials, capacity, and customer commitments are coordinated and executed effectively.
- Establish a high‑performance operating cadence with disciplined review of production, quality, delivery, safety, inventory, and financial results.
Financial & commercial accountability
- Own the profit and loss performance of the business, ensuring disciplined management of margins, expenses, working capital, and cash flow.
- Review financial and operational data to identify issues, set priorities, and drive corrective action.
- Ensure pricing, quoting, and account strategies support profitable growth and a strong market position.
Leadership, talent & culture
- Build, coach, and develop a strong management team capable of executing strategy and leading high‑performing teams.
- Set clear expectations, provide feedback, and address performance issues in a timely and constructive manner.
- Foster a culture of ownership, communication, cross‑functional alignment, and continuous learning.
Technology, data & modern ways of working
- Champion the practical adoption of technology to improve efficiency, visibility, and decision‑making.
- Identify and support appropriate uses of AI and automation in planning, reporting, administrative, and operational processes, with sound controls and human oversight.
- Lead effectively in a hybrid and distributed environment by establishing strong communication rhythms, clear expectations, and performance visibility.
Safety, quality & risk
- Ensure health and safety remain visible, non‑negotiable leadership priorities across the business.
- Uphold strong quality, compliance, confidentiality, and operational risk management standards.
- Address incidents, deficiencies, and recurring issues with urgency and sustainable corrective action.

Experience & qualifications
- University degree or college diploma in engineering, business, commerce, operations, or a related discipline.
- 15+ years of progressive leadership experience in a manufacturing environment, including senior operational or general management responsibility.
- Demonstrated success in P&L accountability, growth planning, operational improvement, and leadership team development.
- Proven experience leading cross‑functional teams spanning operations, sales, finance, and people leadership.
- Experience implementing lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, and cost optimization initiatives.
- Strong understanding of business systems, reporting tools, and technology‑enabled operating models; experience leading in environments with remote or multi‑site collaboration is an asset.
- Experience in truss, building products, engineered wood, or related manufacturing sectors is an asset.
