A Medical Specialist practice delivering comprehensive, high-quality care in a small, efficient clinical setting in central Markham. The medical office assistant will play a key role in coordinating patient flow and supporting clinic administration. Clinic is located in a high traffic plaza with ample free parking.
Role Description
We are currently recruiting for a short-term (July 1, 2026 to September 11, 2026), Full-time (9:00AM - 5:00PM Mondays-Fridays) position with possible extension to permanent position after end of term.
Candidate will be working on-site in the role of a Medical Office Assistant role located in Markham for a Specialist Physician practice with responsibilities including:
- Answering phone calls, patient emails, and messages
- Scheduling appointments
- Contacting labs and facilities for test results
- Tracking inventory for office supplies
- Billing for non-OHIP patients
- Check-in for all patients, including use of automated blood pressure machine and digital scale
The ideal candidate will have:
- Language: Fluency in English and Cantonese. Mandarin is an asset but not required.
- Experience with Accuro Electronic Medical Record (EMR) is preferred but not required
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced clinical environment
- Strong phone etiquette and appointment scheduling skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective interaction with patients
- Completion of a recognized Medical Office Assistant program or equivalent healthcare experience is an asset but not required
Salary and Benefits
- Starting salary from $19 per hour depending on previous experience
- Competitive annual stipend for health expenses
- Two weeks vacation per year (10 business days) if extending to permanent position. Clinic is typically closed during end of year holidays
Pay: From $19.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40.0 per week
