Job Title: Carpenter
Job Description
This role involves performing a wide range of commercial carpentry tasks on new build and renovation projects across the Edmonton area. You will contribute to interior framing, curb and roof preparation, and general construction activities, including operating a skid steer. The position offers consistent daytime hours from Monday to Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with initial work on a new commercial restaurant build followed by assignments on various commercial and institutional construction sites.
Responsibilities

Perform general interior framing using plywood and other materials on new commercial construction projects.

Assist with curb preparation and roof leveling preparation as required on site.

Operate a skid steer safely and efficiently to support construction activities.

Complete carpentry work on a variety of commercial construction projects, primarily commercial retail units (CRUs) and occasionally institutional projects such as schools.

Carry out wood and steel stud framing, including door openings, hoarding, and related structural elements.

Install parapet sheathing and complete window opening plywood lining and foundation insulation.

Perform miscellaneous blocking in framing to support fixtures and building components.

Install metal door frames and hollow metal doors according to specifications and blueprints.

Execute layout tasks, ensuring measurements and placements are accurate and aligned with project plans.

Support general labour duties such as demolition and site clean-up when required.

Read and interpret blueprints to understand project requirements and construction details.

Use hand and power tools safely and effectively to complete carpentry and construction tasks.

Follow all site safety protocols, including fall protection procedures and other safety regulations.

Collaborate with site supervisors and other trades to ensure projects progress smoothly and on schedule.

Maintain a tidy and organized work area and handle provided tools and equipment responsibly.
Essential Skills

General commercial carpentry experience, with a 3rd year apprentice level preferred.

Proficiency in wood and steel stud framing, including door openings, hoarding, and parapet sheathing.

Ability to read and interpret blueprints for commercial construction projects.

Experience with finish carpentry and general framing in commercial environments.

Skill in door installation, including metal door frames and hollow metal doors.

Competence in operating a skid steer with valid skid steer certification.

Strong working knowledge of commercial construction practices and standards.

Ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively.
-
Valid CSTS 2020 certification.
-
Valid Fall Protection certification.

Ability to lift up to 25 lbs as part of regular job duties.

Reliable transportation to travel to various job sites across the Edmonton area.
Additional Skills & Qualifications

AWP or EWP certification is an asset.

Experience working on commercial retail units (CRUs) and institutional projects such as schools.

Familiarity with parapets, framing layouts, and foundation insulation work.

Comfort with performing demolition and other general labour tasks on construction sites.

Strong attention to detail and accuracy in measurements and layout.

Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with a site team.

Work Environment
You will work on active commercial and institutional construction sites across the Edmonton area, primarily during daytime shifts from Monday to Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The environment is hands-on and fast-paced, with a focus on safety and adherence to construction standards. You are expected to bring your own basic hand tools, including a tool belt, hammer, utility knife, tape measure, and any preferred miscellaneous hand tools such as a small pry bar or tri-square. Power tools are provided on site and personal power tools are not permitted; all tools supplied by the company must remain at the jobsite. Work will take place both indoors and outdoors, depending on the phase of construction, and involves physical tasks such as lifting, framing, demolition, and operating equipment like a skid steer.

The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $38.00/hr.
