At Shiva Exports, we have over 20+ years of business experience, with operating facilities across Canada and US, marketing office photocopiers both in domestic and international markets along with diversified activities in hotels and construction. We are looking for an Accounting Supervisor to oversee the day-to-day accounting and ensuring financial accuracy and compliance.
This position requires strong technical accounting skills and exposure in multi- currency operations in both US and Canada.
Job Type : In person (Full Time Permanent at the Mississauga office)
Working Hours : Monday to Friday 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM + any additional hours required to complete work assignments
Salary: $70,000 - $80,000
Responsibilities
1) Financial/ Accounting Tasks
- Prepare, reconcile and review monthly financial statements for Shiva group of companies in US and Canada
- Overseeing monthly, quarterly and year end closing reports including reconciling AP, AR, inventory and inter-company transactions.
- Consolidating income and expense data from multiple branches in US and Canada to provide a unified view of company performance
- Analyzing trends and variances in financial data and presenting it to Management for review
- Ensuring timely submission of government remittances for all companies
- Overseeing multi-currency transactions between different entities within Shiva Group
- Ability to coordinate with accounting firm for yearend compilation and review engagement
2) Taxation
- Using knowledge and experience of CRA and IRS taxation and compliance laws to file periodical tax returns
- Reconcile and remit monthly, quarterly and annual tax returns for the group of companies
3) Team Building
- Train, supervise and coordinate the work of junior accountants in Canada and India
- Identify and implement measures to improve productivity and automate repetitive tasks within the department
- Foster a collaborative team culture that supports continuous improvement
Skills and Competencies
- Expert knowledge of GAAP and other procedures according to Canadian and US laws
- Proficient in using Excel and QuickBooks or similar accounting software
- Comfortable in working in an entrepreneurial and high-accountability environment
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Clear and professional communication and presentation skills to create reports and present to management
Education
- University degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field
- Accounting designation preferred
Experience
- Minimum 5 years experience working in the field of accounting in a supervisory role
- Proven ability to lead small teams
Pay: $70,000.00-$80,000.00 per year
