Summary
We are seeking a skilled High Voltage Electrical Technician to service, troubleshoot, modify, and commission 25 kV switchgear and industrial control systems used in mining and heavy industrial commissioning.
This role involves both shop-based work and field service, supporting equipment refurbishment, custom modifications, and on-site commissioning.
Key Responsibilities
Switchgear & Power Systems
- Inspect, service, and maintain medium voltage (up to 25 kV) switchgear
- Perform testing including: Insulation resistance (Megger)- Contact resistance- Relay testing and verification
- Diagnose and repair faults in breakers, contactors, relays, and protection systems
- Modify and retrofit existing switchgear to meet project or customer requirements
Control Systems
- Troubleshoot and modify PLC-based and relay-based control systems
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, and wiring drawings
- Perform panel wiring, upgrades, and system integration
- Assist in design changes and improvements for mining equipment controls
Shop & Fabrication Support
- Assist in refurbishment of electrical equipment for resale
- Build and modify control panels and electrical assemblies
- Maintain organized documentation of work performed
Qualifications & Experience
- Red Seal Electrician or Electrical Technologist (or equivalent experience)
- Minimum 5+ years experience with medium voltage systems (up to 25 kV)
- Strong experience with: Switchgear and motor control centers (MCCs)Industrial control systems (PLC or relay logic)
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics
- Experience working in mining, heavy industrial, or power generation environments
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel
- Experience with major OEM equipment (e.g., ABB, Siemens, Schneider, GE)
- Familiarity with protective relays and coordination
- PLC programming/troubleshooting (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, etc.)
- Experience with high voltage testing equipment
- Field commissioning experience at mine sites

Pay: $36.00-$45.00 per hour
