We are opening a new restaurant in Guelph focused on authentic Kerala cuisine. We are looking for someone who genuinely knows this food — whether you grew up cooking it at home or have worked with it in a kitchen. If you understand the flavours, the techniques, and the ingredients, we want to hear from you.
What you'll do:
Prepare and cook dishes from our Kerala menu following recipes and chef direction. Handle daily prep including grinding masalas, making coconut-based gravies, tempering spices, and marinating proteins. Keep your station clean and organized. Follow food safety standards. Support the team during busy service. Help with receiving and storing ingredients.
What we're looking for:
Real familiarity with Kerala cuisine and its cooking techniques — tempering in coconut oil, dry roasting and grinding spices, making thoran and chutneys, working with traditional ingredients. You don't need a long resume but you do need to know this food. We also need someone who is reliable, punctual, and works well with others.
Preferred but not required:
Previous kitchen or restaurant experience. Food Handler Certificate (we can support you in getting one). Conversational Malayalam is a bonus but not a requirement.
