As a Family Services Coordinator, you will be one of the first points of connection for families staying at Ronald McDonald House Alberta. You will support families with referrals, check-ins and check-outs, room coordination, day-use access, House programs, volunteer support, and day-to-day House operations while helping create a welcoming, safe, and caring environment.
This role is based in-house at the Edmonton Ronald McDonald House. We are hiring for two vacancies: one part-time weekend role and one casual role to support vacation coverage and operational needs.
Part-time/Casual shifts are 7 hours and may be scheduled from 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. or 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., primarily on weekends, with additional casual shifts available for vacation coverage. Hours are subject to change based on operational needs.
Your work helps families feel supported, informed, and cared for during one of the most stressful times in their lives. By keeping the House running smoothly and responding to families with empathy and respect, you help create a home-away-from-home where families can stay close to their seriously ill or injured child.
Your Key Responsibilities
Process room referrals, manage the waitlist, support family check-ins and check-outs, complete room inspections, and process room payments.
Respond to family questions and concerns in an empathetic, family-centred, inclusive, and trauma-informed way.
Liaise with hospital staff, referring partners, third-party payment agencies, incoming and outgoing staff, and night security as required.
Support House programs, including Home for Dinner, Helping Hands, Pet Therapy, Shuttle, Rejuvenation, and grab-and-go food services.
Welcome volunteer groups, provide orientations and tours, collect required paperwork, and ensure program spaces and equipment are cleaned and reset.
Guide and support volunteers by assigning tasks, sharing updates, supporting training, and recognizing their contributions.
Identify, respond to, report, and record emergency or risk situations according to training and emergency procedures.
Experience working in a human services, family support, hospitality, community services, or related environment.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work respectfully with children, families, volunteers, staff, and community partners from diverse backgrounds.
Ability to respond to families with empathy, professionalism, discretion, and a family-centred approach.
