Purpose:
The Biomedical Technician is responsible for ensuring the integrity of patient contact devices ("equipment") for the Hamilton facility. When necessary, the Biomedical Technician will perform simple repairs or send out selected pieces of equipment for external service.
The Biomedical Technician makes optimal use of specialized technical knowledge and experience in servicing the Company’s equipment inventory and some patient owned-devices on a limited basis.

Job Responsibilities:

- Preparing and maintaining equipment inventory and repair reports, while recommending process improvements and enhanced inventory tracking methods.
- Performing specialized cleaning activities
- Monitoring and reporting on daily and weekly performance metrics and KPIs.
- Ensuring required software and system updates are completed.
- Leading the training and onboarding of new Biomedical Technicians and Sterilization Associates.
- Overseeing maintenance programs and coordinating activities with third-party service vendors.
- Adheres to organizational and individual health and safety responsibilities in the workplace
- Performs equipment and inventory inspections in accordance with standard operating procedures.
- Performs diagnostics and repair of equipment for all facilities.
- Monitors equipment inventory levels and makes recommendations for purchases.
- Preserves records of equipment maintenance and repairs.
- Liaises with customer service representatives and pharmacists with equipment related issues.
- Internally, the Biomedical Technician interacts daily with staff in the maintenance department, the warehouse, pharmacy, and customer service department.
- Externally, daily contact is made with external maintenance service providers and suppliers. There is occasional contact with patients regarding equipment related issues.
- Maintains up-to-date training designated for this position including health and safety training via Learning Management System and/or others as assigned
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary education in Biomedical Engineering Technology or another related field
- Electronics or service related background and good technical skills

- Strong attention to detail with the ability to multi-task and handle fluctuating workloads
- Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and time-management skills
- Excellent continuous improvement skills

- Excellent customer service skills and the ability to collaborate with all levels both inside and outside the organization
- Strong computer skills in MS Office
Working Conditions:
- Physical Effort: The Equipment Technician position requires bending, pushing, pulling, and lifting objects up to 50 lbs.
