Job Summary
Prodigy Personnel is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Welder to join their manufacturing team. This position involves fabricating and welding a variety of components used in the production of equipment, with a strong emphasis on quality, precision, and craftsmanship.
Our manufacturing process utilizes MIG welding for speed, efficiency, and deep penetration on heavy-duty steel framework and structural components. The ideal candidate has strong MIG welding and fabrication skills and takes pride in producing clean, accurate welds that meet high quality standards.
Please note: An on-site weld test is required as part of the interview process.
Responsibilities
- Perform MIG welding on heavy-duty steel framework and structural components.
- Fabricate and assemble components according to blueprints, drawings, and work instructions.
- Fit, align, tack, and weld parts to specified dimensions and tolerances.
- Produce clean, consistent welds with strong penetration and excellent cosmetic appearance.
- Weld conditioners.
- Weld auger tubes.
- Weld Edgar components.
- Weld board brush assemblies.
- Weld ancillary equipment and parts.
- Weld any other items as required from time to time.
- Ensure finished products meet the highest quality standards, including secure welds, clean welds, and proper heat management to minimize distortion.
- Ensure inventory of sub-components is properly maintained to eliminate any opportunity for shortages.
- Grind, finish, and prepare welded assemblies as required.
- Inspect completed welds for quality, strength, and dimensional accuracy.
- Operate fabrication equipment including saws, grinders, drill presses, and other shop tools.
- Use imperial tape measures, squares, calipers, and other measuring instruments to ensure accurate fabrication.
- Operate a 4-8 ton forklift as required.
- Use overhead cranes to assist with lifting and moving materials and finished products safely.
- Maintain welding equipment and ensure a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Work collaboratively with engineering, assembly, and production teams to meet manufacturing schedules.
- Follow all company safety policies and welding best practices.
Experience:
- Minimum 3 years of proven MIG welding experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
- CWB certification or previous welding qualifications are considered an asset.
- Experience MIG welding structural steel components.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, and welding symbols.
- Strong fabrication, fitting, and assembly skills.
- Ability to accurately read an imperial tape measure and use precision measuring tools.
- High attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Reliable attendance and a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work in a warehouse environment that may be loud, dusty, and dirty.
- Forklift and crane experience is an asset
