General Job Description:
We are seeking a Strength and Conditioning Coach who will be responsible for creating and maintaining strength and conditioning programs, with the three major goals of improving athletic performance, reducing athletic injuries, and teaching lifelong fitness and movement skills for youth-based sports teams
The Strength and Conditioning Coach instructs strength and conditioning classes, devises sport-specific training plans based on sound scientific principles, oversees training sessions, evaluates athletes and maintains athlete records.
The Strength and Conditioning Coach meets regularly with sport coaches to determine what the athletes need to work on. If working with an injured athlete engaged in rehabilitation, the Strength and Conditioning Coach will consult with coaching, medical and/or rehabilitation professionals as necessary, making necessary adjustments to programming.
The Strength and Conditioning Coach is responsible for abiding by policies, plans, and procedures for the safe and professional operation of the facility.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Design and instruct strength training and conditioning programs/classes for youth-based athletic teams in a manner that reflects research‐driven practices.
Facilitate a collaborative relationship among coaches, athletic trainers, parents and facility staff.
Implement systems for tracking athlete attendance and athlete progress in conjunction with sport coaches.
Determine and reinforce expectations for athlete conduct.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Current, relevant certification in Strength & Conditioning and/or Personal Training and/or Group Fitness Instruction from a recognized institution (e.g., Canfitpro, National Strength & Conditioning Association (NSCA), National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM), International Sports Sciences Association (ISSA), etc.
Completion of, or working towards completion of, BSc in Kinesiology, Exercise Sciences or related field considered an asset.
Current standard first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and automated external defibrillation (AED) certifications.
Strong knowledge and teaching skills in analysis and techniques of strength training.
Proven ability to demonstrate appropriate skills and techniques to be used by athletes
Experienced in strength and conditioning programming for youth-based populations.
Strong motivational skills
Evidence of ability to interact positively with young athletes, coaching staff, and the public.
Evidence of strong time management, organization and communication skills.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $20.00-$35.00 per hour
