About this role
ProQual Construction & Innovations Inc. is the main company under the ProQual Construction & Innovations Group of Companies, a fast growing group based in Nisku and serving clients across the greater Edmonton area. This role covers the full bookkeeping cycle across all four companies in the Group and reports to the Director of Organizational Development. Alongside the accounting work, you will support a range of administrative tasks including HR documentation and hiring packages, tracking ticket expiries and holdings, tracking insurances, building forms, and helping put procedures together. As our companies grow, this role has real room to grow with them, with the opportunity to build seniority in the position and develop leadership skills over time.
Required skills
Accounts Payable and Receivable
- Process accounts payable transactions for all four companies under the Group, including invoice entry, coding, verification, and filing
- Process accounts receivable transactions for ProQual Inc. only, including invoicing support, cash receipt posting, and customer account maintenance
- Prepare weekly AR/AP reports
- Set up and maintain customers, subcustomers, and projects in QuickBooks, and understand how each level affects reporting and job costing downstream
- Set up recurring transactions for costs that come in on a regular basis
- Ensure every transaction posted has clear justification, and keep journal entries to a minimum
- Support internal accounting inquiries and respond to vendor questions professionally
Payroll
- Set up new employees and process payroll
- Remit payroll taxes
- Remit to our benefits provider as part of the payroll cycle
Reconciliation and Reporting
- Reconcile accounts monthly and at year end, including bank and balance sheet reconciliations
- Perform monthly credit card reconciliation and employee expense reconciliation
- Remit GST
- Maintain records in Excel and post transactions to an external forecasting and reporting platform outside of QuickBooks
- Maintain accurate and well organized accounting records and documentation
- Work collaboratively with our senior coordinator and other departments to keep financial and accounting data consistent and ensure accurate, efficient financial processing
Administration and Support
- Keep Motion up to date daily so the team can see what you are working on, spot gaps, and understand your workload without needing to check in
- Track ticket expiries and holdings, and track insurances, flagging renewals before they lapse
- Maintain existing procedures for this role and write new ones as processes change
- Assist HR by providing forms and data for review and preparing hiring packages
- Build clean, fillable PDF forms in Adobe from blank forms provided to you
- Create and maintain employee files
- Support and execute current and future project work when needed
- Other related duties as required or assigned
Qualifications & competencies
- Solid bookkeeping experience, ideally in construction or a similar project based industry
- Strong working knowledge of QuickBooks, including customer, subcustomer, and project structure
- Payroll processing experience, including remittances
- Proficient in Microsoft 365, especially Excel
- Comfortable in Adobe for building fillable forms
- 2-4 years bookkeeping or accounting support experience

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $60,000.00-$72,000.00 per year
Ability to commute/relocate:
- Nisku, AB: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

- Secondary School (preferred)
Experience:
- Bookkeeping: 1 year (required)
