Job Description:
Project Managers are an integral part of what we provide at GUNN Consultants. They are the primary point of contact for the client and manage many of the day-to-day activities relating to the project. The Project Manager will report directly to the Branch Manager and the duties include, but not limited to:
- Daily project management of New Construction, Modernization, and Inspection Projects
- Meetings with Client, Architect, Property Managers, Contractors, and Construction Team
- Communication and coordination with architects, developers, property managers, subconsultants, and internal Design Team to ensure the design conforms to building usage and requirements
- Management and guidance of GUNN staff assigned to your projects (Coordinator, Project Engineer, Site Personnel)
- Determining and maintaining project schedule by studying project plan and specifications; calculating time requirements; sequencing project elements; monitoring project progress; coordinating activities; resolving issues
- Review of architectural drawings and existing equipment for equipment configurations, and code compliance as it relates to vertical transportation
- Preparation of reports, letters, and project documentation
- Review of design, traffic calculations, and specifications prepared by the internal Design Team
- Bid review, contract review and preparation, bid negotiation
- Field review/Site inspections of elevator and escalator equipment
- Business development and client relationship management
- Other business duties as required
- Travel to project locations across Canada as required
Who You Are:
Minimum Qualifications
- 5+ years in the vertical transportation, construction, or similar industry
- Bachelor of Engineering degree
- Experienced with project coordination and management involving multiple stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of electronics and mechanical equipment
- Knowledge of elevator and escalator installation, maintenance, and upgrade an asset
- Proficient with computers, Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project
- Known for exhibiting a high level of coordination, prioritization, and organization
- Strong attention to detail (i.e. recognizing written errors, reviewing documents for accuracy and consistency)
- Known to take initiative and close cycles of action
- Work well independently and as part of a team
- Deadline driven and solution focused
- Passionate about consistently achieving an exceptional engineering product
- Ready to speak up to ensure procedures are followed
- Natural curiosity for processes and how things connect
- Registered with a Provincial Engineering Association; P.Eng designation an asset
- Project Management Professional (PMP) Designation an asset
- Self-employment experience an asset
- CAD/Drawing experience ideal
