Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Prep Cook/Line Cook for the St John's Convention Centre, to join our vibrant culinary team. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about food preparation, cooking, and delivering exceptional food service. The successful candidate will play a vital part in ensuring the smooth operation of our kitchen, preparing high-quality dishes, and maintaining food safety standards in a fast-paced restaurant environment.
Duties
- Prepare ingredients and assist with food preparation for various menu items, ensuring consistency and quality.
- Cook menu items according to recipes and presentation standards, maintaining efficiency during busy service hours.
- Assist in plating and garnishing dishes to meet menu presentation standards.
- Ensure all food handling procedures comply with safety and sanitation regulations.
- Maintain cleanliness of workstations, utensils, and kitchen equipment throughout shifts.
- Support other kitchen staff as needed, including assisting with inventory management and stock rotation.
- Follow proper food safety protocols to prevent contamination and ensure customer safety.
Requirements
- Previous experience in food preparation, cooking, or food service is preferred; catering or kitchen experience is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of food handling safety standards and sanitation practices.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Strong understanding of meal preparation techniques and food industry standards.
- Excellent teamwork skills with a positive attitude towards collaboration.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends or evenings if required.
- Basic knowledge of serving procedures and customer service principles is a plus.
