Data Analytics Specialist (Contract) – Remote (Canada)
Our client is seeking a
Data Analytics Specialist / Data Scientist to support the
Data Centre of Excellence in designing and delivering analytical data products and services that help advance a Data Strategy. This role works in a collaborative environment and contributes to high-quality analytics, modeling, visualization, and data-driven decision support that benefits Albertans.
What you’ll do

Partner with internal and external stakeholders to understand analytics needs and translate them into actionable analytical products and services.

Design, build, and iterate on analytical models, insights, and data products aligned to evolving business priorities.

Analyze and prepare raw data for predictive/prescriptive modeling, including feature engineering and data quality improvements.

Apply statistical and machine learning methods to generate insights (e.g., clustering, classification, regression).

Contribute to or support full-stack analytics / AI applications as required.

Create dashboards and reporting outputs using multiple data sources and inputs.

Develop outcomes, success measures, metrics, and indicators to evaluate analytics initiatives.

Produce options, roadmaps, frameworks, and executive-ready briefings to support strategic decision-making.

Support a culture shift toward treating data as a strategic asset, including knowledge sharing and mentorship within the team.

Work effectively in a multi-vendor / staff-aug environment, escalating risks/issues when appropriate.
What you bring

Strong experience across several of: data analytics, data science, data modeling, statistical analysis, AI/ML, and data visualization.

Ability to communicate complex findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Demonstrated stakeholder engagement skills, including requirements gathering and translating business questions into analytical approaches.

Experience applying techniques such as k-means, hierarchical clustering, logistic regression, and related methodologies.

Understanding of responsible data practices (e.g., privacy considerations, de-identification concepts, and governance-aligned delivery).
