Our client, an established equipment company located in Woodbridge, is looking for a hands-on, highly organized Service Shop Manager to lead the daily operation of a busy equipment service facility.
This is a key leadership and operations role for someone who understands equipment repairs, mechanics, parts, scheduling, customer urgency, rentals, work orders, and the importance of accurate system documentation.
The right person will be comfortable leading technicians, coordinating repair priorities, keeping work orders current, following up on parts and approvals, communicating with customers and internal teams, and keeping the shop moving efficiently from intake through completion and invoicing.

What You Will Do
As Service Shop Manager, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day flow of the shop, coordinating technicians, tracking repair progress, supporting customer communication, and ensuring service work is completed properly, efficiently, and professionally.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Planning and organizing the daily shop schedule before technicians begin work
- Assigning work to mechanics based on priority, skill set, equipment needs, customer commitments, rentals, PDIs, and promised completion times
- Monitoring technician progress throughout the day and adjusting priorities as needed
- Coordinating equipment repairs, PDIs, rental equipment, field service support, and customer repair work
- Keeping work orders accurate, complete, updated, and ready for billing
- Using service/work order systems to manage repair records, parts, job notes, costing, technician time, and invoicing information
- Preparing or assisting with repair quotes, estimates, job costing, customer approvals, and customer updates
- Tracking technician time, repair notes, service information, and required documentation
- Following up on parts, approvals, estimates, repair information, customer updates, and job completion
- Working closely with parts, purchasing, rentals, administration, sales, and field service staff
- Communicating repair status and service updates to management and relevant departments
- Helping control repair costs, reduce downtime, improve job profitability, and increase shop efficiency
- Coordinating incoming and outgoing equipment, deliveries, pickups, rentals, and customer equipment
- Ensuring equipment condition, serial numbers, hour meters, photos, and customer concerns are recorded accurately
- Maintaining a clean, organized, safe, and professional service facility
- Supporting, coaching, and holding technicians accountable while maintaining a respectful and positive shop culture
What We Are Looking For
We are looking for someone who is organized, practical, accountable, and comfortable managing a busy service environment with multiple priorities moving at once.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Experience managing, supervising, or coordinating a mechanical, equipment, truck, construction, industrial, rental, or heavy-equipment service shop
- Strong understanding of repair workflow, technician scheduling, parts ordering, service documentation, and customer urgency
- Comfort using computer systems daily, including work order, ERP, service, parts, or inventory systems
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage mechanics, keep people accountable, and communicate clearly
- Excellent follow-up, organization, prioritization, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment where priorities can change quickly
- Valid driver’s licence
- Willingness to learn and work within the company’s service and operating systems
Nice to Have
The following experience would be considered an asset:
- Heavy equipment, aerial equipment, rental equipment, construction equipment, or industrial service experience
- Experience with NetSuite, Shepherd, ERP systems, service software, work order systems, or parts/inventory systems
- Background as a mechanic, lead hand, shop foreman, service coordinator, parts/service manager, service manager, or similar role
- Ability to read parts diagrams, service manuals, repair notes, technical information, and equipment documentation
- Experience preparing quotes, tracking job costing, reviewing work orders, supporting invoicing, and reporting on service activity
- Experience helping build, improve, or lead a shop or field service team

Working Conditions
This is a full-time, on-site position based primarily at a Woodbridge service facility.
The role is Monday to Friday, with flexibility required based on business needs, equipment issues, customer commitments, and operational demands.
The position involves a combination of shop-floor presence, technician coordination, system/admin work, customer/vendor communication, and management reporting.
Compensation and Benefits
Compensation will be competitive and based on experience, leadership ability, technical background, and service management experience.
A comprehensive health and dental benefits plan is provided. Long-term disability dues are paid by the employee.
