Job Summary
We are currently seeking a detail-oriented and organized Inventory Technician to support our maintenance and inventory operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for receiving, issuing, tracking, and maintaining inventory of parts and materials while ensuring accurate records and documentation.
This position is ideal for someone with strong inventory control, data entry, administrative, and material-handling skills who can work independently while communicating effectively with maintenance and supervisory teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate maintenance paperwork, inventory records, files, logs, and documentation.
- Enter quantities of parts issued and transferred from the maintenance shop into the computer database.
- Process inventory and cycle-count adjustments and maintain accurate system quantities.
- Receive incoming parts and update quantities in the parts-room database.
- Monitor inventory levels daily and notify appropriate personnel when materials are received or need to be reordered.
- Initiate Purchase Requisitions (PRs) to maintain appropriate inventory levels and prevent material shortages.
- Locate issued items on the platform and notify appropriate supervisors of their arrival and location.
- Ensure all materials are correctly identified, labelled, documented, and stored.
- Off-load incoming parts and materials and place them in appropriate storage areas.
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe storage areas for all parts and materials.
- Maintain accurate records of material certifications and documentation accompanying specific job packs to ensure work can proceed on schedule.
- Verify received materials against delivery invoices, identify discrepancies, and communicate them to the appropriate personnel for correction.
- Receive and issue stores items while maintaining properly documented inventory and store records.
- Conduct inventories of company plant, equipment, parts, and materials in accordance with company procedures.
- Perform regular cycle counts and investigate inventory discrepancies.
- Support general administrative duties related to maintenance and inventory operations.
- Follow all company policies, procedures, safety rules, and workplace regulations.
- Perform other inventory, material-handling, and administrative duties as required.
Qualifications & Skills
- Previous experience in inventory control, warehouse operations, parts management, maintenance stores, or a similar environment.
- Strong computer and data-entry skills with the ability to maintain accurate database records.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to accurately track parts, quantities, receipts, transfers, and inventory adjustments.
- Comfortable working with inventory management systems and computer databases.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with maintenance, purchasing, warehouse, and supervisory teams.
- Ability to identify discrepancies and resolve or report inventory issues promptly.
- Good understanding of workplace health and safety procedures.
- Ability to lift, move, and organize parts and materials as required.
- Previous experience working in an industrial, manufacturing, maintenance, or plant environment is an asset.
