JOB OVERVIEW
REPORTS TO: Senior Manager, Finance
Join one of Canada’s fastest-growing retirement living organizations. Spring Living Retirement Communities is seeking a Manager, Operations Finance to provide day-to-day leadership and financial oversight for a portfolio of approximately 12 to 15 retirement communities. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Finance, this role will work closely with Executive Directors, Operations leadership, Financial Analysts and Senior Financial Analysts to ensure each home receives timely, accurate and practical finance support.
This is a hands-on leadership role within Operations Finance. The Manager will oversee month-end review, support site-level decision-making, coach and develop analysts, strengthen financial controls, and help translate financial results into clear operational actions. The successful candidate will bring strong full-cycle accounting experience, a service-oriented business partner mindset, and the ability to lead a high-performing team in a fast-paced, multi-site environment.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Portfolio Oversight & Site Support:
- Oversee financial reporting and day-to-day finance support for approximately 12 to 15 retirement communities.
- Act as a primary finance contact for Executive Directors and Operations leaders on financial results, site-level issues and operational trends.
- Provide practical guidance to homes on accounting, revenue, labour, expenses, accruals, coding, reporting and other finance matters.
- Build strong relationships with Operations, Payroll, Accounts Payable, Revenue, Corporate Finance and other cross-functional teams.
Month-End Review & Financial Reporting:
- Review monthly financial statements, journal entries, reconciliations and variance explanations prepared by Financial Analysts and Senior Financial Analysts.
- Ensure month-end reporting is accurate, complete, well-supported and delivered within required timelines.
- Investigate significant variances, unusual trends and operating risks before final reporting.
- Provide clear commentary, insights and recommendations on community performance.
Team Leadership & Development:
- Provide day-to-day coaching, guidance and support to Financial Analysts and Senior Financial Analysts.
- Review workload, priorities and deadlines to ensure the team is operating effectively and consistently across the portfolio.
- Support onboarding and training of new finance team members, including process guidance, system training and best practices.
Controls, Compliance & Continuous Improvement:
- Strengthen accounting processes, internal controls and reporting standards across the Operations Finance portfolio.
- Support audits, acquisitions, system implementations and other finance projects as required.
- Identify opportunities to improve workflows, reporting quality, efficiency and consistency across homes.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or a related discipline; CPA designation is strongly preferred.
- 5 to 8+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience, including experience reviewing full-cycle monthly financial statements.
- Experience leading, coaching or reviewing the work of Financial Analysts, Senior Financial Analysts or accounting team members.
- Strong understanding of month-end close, accruals, reconciliations, variance analysis, internal controls and financial reporting.
- Experience in retirement living, healthcare, real estate, hospitality or multi-site operations is considered an asset.
- Strong Excel skills and comfort working with accounting systems; experience with Yardi is highly preferred.
- Excellent communication, organization and problem-solving skills with the ability to partner effectively with operational leaders.

Pay: From CA$110,000.00 per year
