In-Person & Online Tutor – Grade 5 English/Language Arts (West Toronto: Keele/Eglinton & Weston)
TutorShark is actively hiring a tutor to work one-on-one with a Grade 5 student on reading and writing skills. We are looking to fill this position now, with the first session starting mid-July.
About the role
You will support a Grade 5 student in building foundational English and language arts skills, with a focus on reading and writing. Sessions run weekly. This is a mix of in-person and online work:
- Most sessions are in-person, held at a public library near Keele St & Eglinton Ave W, or at a cafe in the Eglinton Ave W / Weston Rd area.
- A couple of sessions across the summer will be held online when the family is travelling.
- On occasion, an in-person session may be held at a library near Lake Shore Blvd W in Etobicoke instead.
Because sessions move between a few west-end locations, this role suits someone based in or comfortably able to travel around west Toronto (Keele/Eglinton, Weston, and the Etobicoke lakeshore).
Pay
- In-person sessions: $25/hour
- Online sessions: $20/hour
What we're looking for
- Experience tutoring elementary-age students
- Patience and kindness, and the ability to make a young learner feel supported and confident
- Reliability and consistency week to week
- Experience with ADHD or supporting students with learning differences is an asset
- For online sessions, your own computer and reliable internet
- A valid Vulnerable Sector Check (or willingness to obtain one before starting)
