We are a not-for-profit organization operating at 6 locations across Vancouver, Richmond, North Vancouver, and Squamish. We are currently seeking a part-time Registered Nurse (RN) / Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN) to support our residential stabilization program and help provide safe, coordinated, person-centred nursing care for residents in early recovery.
Position Summary
Under the supervision of the Site Manager and in close collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, the RN/RPN provides comprehensive nursing care and advanced health coordination within a residential stabilization program supporting residents transitioning from detox into a 4–6 week stabilization period prior to moving into a recovery house. This role completes comprehensive assessments, leads complex medication management, supports individualized care planning, delivers health education, and provides clinical leadership related to readiness and transition planning.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive physical and mental health assessments; identify emerging concerns and initiate nursing interventions within scope.
- Lead medication management practices (storage, administration, documentation, monitoring, and coordination with prescribers/pharmacies) in accordance with TPRS policy and BCCNM standards.
- Develop, implement, and support individualized care plans and stabilization supports for residents with complex health and mental health needs.
- Provide health education and wellness programming tailored to early stabilization (e.g., medication literacy, stress management, self-care, chronic health considerations).
- Provide clinical leadership during crises and urgent health concerns, supporting safety planning and risk mitigation.
- Coordinate and support medical/psychiatric/dental appointments, referrals, and follow-up care (within consent parameters).
- Complete thorough documentation (assessments, notes, medication records, incident reporting) and participate in team meetings/training as required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s (or Master’s) degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
- Current registration in good standing with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) as an RN or RPN.
- 3–5 years of progressive nursing experience in mental health, substance use, acute care, or other relevant clinical settings preferred.
- Strong knowledge of trauma-informed practice, harm reduction/recovery frameworks, complex co-occurring mental health/substance use, and withdrawal considerations.
- Strong communication, clinical judgment, documentation skills, and comfort with electronic systems.
Requirements
- Valid BC Driver’s License and clear driver’s abstract.
- Criminal Record Check required.
- Current certification (or willingness to obtain/maintain):
o Emergency First Aid / CPR, CPI, Naloxone and FoodSafe Level 1
