My client is one of Canada's leading industrial service contractors, delivering industrial solutions across Western Canada who is seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to join their team and contribute to the financial strength and operational success of the organization.
How You'll Contribute
Reporting to the Controller, you will:
- Support the leadership of the accounting function, including payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general accounting activities.
- Manage month-end and year-end close activities while ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Collaborate with leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning initiatives.
- Partner with operations to review job costing, project performance, profitability, and key financial metrics.
- Coordinate audits and assist with tax, compliance, and regulatory reporting requirements.
- Drive improvements in financial processes, internal controls, reporting, and system efficiencies.
- Provide guidance, mentorship, and support to members of the accounting team.
What Makes You Successful
- CPA designation or significant progress toward completion.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally within construction, industrial, or project-based environments.
- Strong understanding of financial reporting, Canadian accounting standards, payroll, and taxation.
- Advanced Excel capabilities and experience with ERP or accounting systems.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative leadership approach.

This opportunity is being offered as a maternity leave contract expected to run approximately 12–18 months, with strong potential for ongoing employment.
