Overview:
Urban International High School (UIHS) is seeking an energetic, highly engaging, and student-centered English Teacher to join our dynamic team. We are looking for a passionate educator who can confidently lead Situational English classes through interactive, real-world communication activities while also supporting students in their academic English development and IELTS preparation. The ideal candidate is outgoing, enthusiastic, and able to create a lively classroom environment that encourages students to actively participate and build confidence in using English.
Responsibilities:
Classroom Instruction
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging English language lessons, with a strong emphasis on Situational English and practical communication skills.
- Create interactive, student-centered learning experiences through discussions, role-plays, presentations, group activities, and real-life scenarios.
- Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet the diverse language proficiency levels and learning needs of students.
- Assess and monitor student progress, providing constructive feedback and ongoing support.
IELTS Exam Preparation
- Prepare and guide students for the IELTS examination, covering all four skill areas: Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking.
- Develop effective test-taking strategies and personalized study plans to help students achieve their target scores.
- Conduct practice assessments and provide detailed feedback on student performance.
Student Engagement
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and energetic classroom environment that promotes active participation and confidence in spoken English.
- Encourage students to communicate naturally and effectively in a variety of real-world situations.
- Support students' academic success and personal growth by addressing individual learning needs and goals.
Administrative Duties
- Plan and maintain detailed lesson plans in accordance with curriculum expectations.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and progress.
- Collaborate with academic team and clearly communicates any issues.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Education, English, or a related field.
- Minimum of 1 year of ESL teaching experience, preferably in a high school setting.
- TESOL, TEFL, or CELTA certification is highly desirable.
Teaching Skills:
- Strong knowledge of ESL teaching methodologies and best practices.
- Proficiency in preparing students for the IELTS exam, with a focus on all four test components.
Communication and Interpersonal Skills:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to connect with and inspire students from diverse cultural backgrounds.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $25.00-$35.00 per hour
