Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable and motivated Driver & Production Assistant to join our team. Working under the guidance of production supervisors and senior team members, the Driver & Production Assistant supports the transportation, assembly, preparation, and production of products including:
- Closet systems and wire shelving
- Mirrors
- Room dividers and closet doors
- Shower and tub enclosures
- Custom interior glass
This position requires strong attention to detail, physical capability, a willingness to learn, and the ability to safely drive a larger company van.
Key Responsibilities
Driving, Delivery & Logistics Support
- Safely operate company van to transport products, materials, tools, and equipment.
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections and maintain clean, organized, and safe company vehicles.
- Follow all traffic laws, company driving policies, and transportation safety procedures.
- Assist with route planning, load organization, and secure transportation of fragile glass and specialty products.
- Prepare, load, unload, and organize materials, tools and products.
- Coordinate deliveries, pickups, and material transfers to support daily production schedules.
- Assist with documenting deliveries, damages, shortages, and transportation-related concerns.
- Provide professional and courteous customer service during deliveries and pickups.
Production & Warehouse Duties
- Work across multiple production departments (closets, mirrors, wire shelving, showers, etc.).
- Maintain a clean and safe workspace.
- Measure, assemble, label, and prepare components to exact specifications.
- Coordinate with warehouse and production teams for efficient workflow.
- Acquire regular training and necessary certifications on various tools and machinery being used on the production floor from time to time.
- Participate in quality checks & continuous improvement initiatives on the shopfloor.
- Assist with inventory handling, picking orders, and organizing product.
- Participate in safe and efficient unloading of product containers at the warehouse.
Safety Responsibilities
- Wear appropriate PPE for the specific task at all times (eg: safety boots, glasses, sleeves, etc.).
- Follow safety protocols in the shop, warehouse, and on job sites.
- Complete safety paperwork and checklists as required.
- Observe and report any suspected safety hazard or near misses
- WHMIS or CSTS training is an asset.
- Teamwork, Communication & Facility Care
Qualifications
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License (required).
- Experience driving larger vans (required).
- Clean or insurable driving record (must meet insurance requirements and provide consent for CJ to obtain a drivers abstract).
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Forklift certification is an asset (or willingness to obtain).
- Experience in production, warehouse, glass, construction, or manufacturing is preferred.
- Ability to read a tape measure accurately and pass a basic math test.
- Strong teamwork, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 70 lbs and perform physical tasks such as standing, bending, kneeling, pulling, pushing, and climbing.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
