Job Summary:
As a Carpenter, an ideal candidate will have refined knowledge and experience within the construction industry. Clear and effective communication will be demonstrated in this role, with good time management and an advanced understanding of the trade.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide proper training on the safe use of hand tools and power equipment.
- Assist other trades on-site as needed.
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine specifications and calculate requirements.
- Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes, using measuring tools.
- Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials.
- Install kitchen units, cabinets and fittings
- May prepare cost estimates for clients.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Carpenter in construction.
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the job (standing for long periods of time, lifting heavy loads of up to 90lbs).
- Red seal is desirable.
- Strong customer service and front-facing skills.
- Knowledge in all aspects of framwork Carpentry.
- A good gut for heights, managing a crew and working on busy, high pressure job sites.
- Aptitude in math.
