We’re hiring three motivated, customer-focused individuals for 12 month full-time term appointments to support our HR Services & Recruitment, Benefits Administration, or HR Programs teams. The HR Assistant provides administrative support and coordination for various human resources department programs and initiatives.

Results and Activities - Non union
1. Benefit and Pension Administration:
- Provides guidance and information to management and staff on benefits and conducts benefit orientations.
- Verifies benefit eligibility dates and maintains and updates employee benefit records in the third-party system(s).
- Distributes benefit cards, overage dependent forms, benefit enrollment and change forms and responds to benefits and wellness email accounts.
- Updates employee pension records with the Municipal Pension Plan (enrolments, terminations, LTD start and stop forms, purchase of service, etc.)
2. Human Resource Information System:
- Generates and disseminates various employment-related reports.
- Tracks probation, trial, competencies, and corporate training activities.
- Updates new employee hire data, address changes, T4 emails, emergency contact information, etc.
- Processes bi-weekly benefit billing and deduction files for third party submission and payment.
3. Disability Management:
- Administers and records disability deposits to Finance.
- Prepares earnings and wage loss reports.
- Prepares reconciliation reports for claims closure.
- Completes and uploads documentation to WorkSafe portal.
4. Office Administration:
- Provides administrative support for the Human Resources management staff and the Compensation & Benefits team.
- Coordinates and liaises on various Human Resources programs, processes and initiatives.
- Maintains filing and document management duties; general and medical filing, union performance reviews, photocopying etc.
- Assists front office and provides reception services during breaks.
Knowledge - Non Union
Certificate level post-secondary education in related – emphasis on human resources, HRIS, business and/or finance. Computer experience (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, HRIS) – benefits systems are an asset.
