Job Overview
Needed a Journeyman, or third year welding apprentice, for a full time position in a small but growing welding shop in Red Deer. Requirements are being able to mig, stick, tig, work on your own, or as part of a small crew, and run a portable welding truck. A valid drivers license and clean drivers abstract is a must. Monday to Friday 8-5 and some evenings and weekends. Benefits available after three months. Please send resume to [email protected].
Duties
- Perform MIG and TIG welding on diverse materials according to project specifications and blueprints
- Read and interpret schematics, technical drawings, and welding blueprints to ensure accurate fabrication
- Operate and maintain equipment such as plasma cutters and hand tools
- Execute rigging tasks to position materials securely for welding or assembly operations
- Conduct plasma cutting, assembly, and installation of structural components
- Use power tools and hand tools safely to complete fabrication tasks efficiently
- Apply mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot equipment issues and perform basic maintenance
- Follow safety protocols including crane operation procedures when handling heavy materials
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Journeyman Welder or 3rd Year Welder with demonstrated proficiency in MIG and TIG welding techniques
- Strong understanding of blueprint reading, schematics, and technical drawings
- Knowledge of rigging, crane operation, plasma cutting, and machining processes is preferred
- Ability to work with hand tools, power tools, and other fabrication equipment safely and effectively
- Mechanical aptitude with basic math skills necessary for measurements and calculations
- Valid certification or licensing in welding or related fields is a plus
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team in fast-paced settings while maintaining high safety standards

Pay: $32.00-$36.00 per hour
