The Embassy of Mexico in Canada announces a vacancy for the position of Economic Promotion Assistant, under a full-time contract.
The selected candidate will support the Embassy’s work in economic, trade, and investment promotion, institutional communication, and press monitoring, contributing to the strengthening of the economic relationship between Mexico and Canada.
Required Profile
Interested candidates should preferably meet the following criteria:
- University degree in Economics, Foreign Trade, International Business, International Relations, Political Science, Communications, Public Administration, or related fields.
- Excellent analytical, synthesis, and writing skills in Spanish and English.
- Ability to analyze, interpret, and systematize economic, trade, and statistical information.
- General knowledge of Canada’s and Mexico's domestic politics, institutional structure, and main public and private stakeholders.
- General knowledge of the Canadian economic landscape, including trade, investment, strategic sectors, supply chains, and the economic relationship with Mexico.
- Familiarity with international trade, investment promotion, nearshoring, North American economic integration, and Mexico-Canada bilateral cooperation.
- Familiarity with import and export procedures between Mexico and Canada, including general documentation, customs processes, regulatory requirements, and interaction with relevant authorities.
- Knowledge of Mexico’s legal and regulatory framework, particularly in areas related to trade, investment, public administration, or institutional affairs, will be considered an asset.
- Fluency in Spanish and English, both spoken and written. Knowledge of French will be considered an asset.
- Strong organizational skills, document classification abilities, and diligent follow-up on matters.
- Ability to interact effectively and professionally with government authorities, business chambers, companies, associations, media outlets, academic institutions, and other relevant stakeholders.
- Ability to multitask, work under pressure, and meet strict deadlines.
- Attention to detail in the preparation, review, and control of official documents, briefing notes, reports, databases, and institutional communications.
- Experience or knowledge in social media management, media monitoring, content development, and institutional digital communication.
- Discretion, responsibility, institutional judgment, and the ability to handle sensitive or official information.
Main Responsibilities
The selected candidate will support, among others, the following activities:
- Preparation of briefing notes, economic reports, sectoral profiles, minutes, supporting documents, and working materials.
- Follow up on economic, trade, investment, energy, agri-food, tourism, and innovation issues relevant to the Mexico-Canada relationship.
- Monitoring of press, digital media, official statements, and social media on matters of interest to Mexico.
- Support in the organization of meetings, events, trade missions, seminars, conferences, official visits, and economic promotion activities.
- Updating and systematizing databases of institutional, business, government, academic, and media contacts.
- Support in the preparation of agendas, briefing folders, speeches, remarks, presentations, and outreach materials.
- Operational coordination with public and private counterparts in Canada and Mexico.
- Support in the management of content related to economic promotion, public diplomacy, and institutional communication.
- Follow up on requests for information from companies, institutions, and Mexican or Canadian authorities.
- Any other task related to economic promotion, press, and institutional communication duties as assigned.
Eligibility Requirements
Pursuant to Government of Canada provisions, only individuals who hold one of the following may be considered:
- Permanent residence in Canada; or
- Canadian citizenship.
Interested candidates must have legal authorization to work in Canada at the time of submitting their application.

Compensation and Benefits
- Salary to be determined in accordance with the Embassy’s applicable compensation framework.
- The position includes a year-end bonus equivalent to one month of salary, calculated proportionally based on the time worked during the year.
