Position Overview
JLM Metal Recycling is seeking a reliable, hardworking, and versatile DZ Truck Driver to join our growing team. This position is much more than simply driving a truck. We are looking for a multi-skilled individual who is willing to learn various aspects of our operation, including transportation, material processing, customer service, paperwork, and yard operations.
Our business experiences seasonal fluctuations, with slower winter months and extremely busy summer months. During slower periods, drivers assist with cutting, processing, sorting, and handling scrap materials to help support the overall operation. As such, flexibility and a willingness to work as part of the team are essential.
A positive, flexible, and happy-go-lucky attitude is a must.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate and maintain automatic DZ-class roll-off Kenworth trucks.
- Transport scrap metal materials safely and efficiently.
- Complete regular weekly trips to Toronto, the GTA, and surrounding areas.
- Haul scrap metal, bins, garbage, and various materials as required.
- Load and unload materials using appropriate equipment.
- Safely tarp and secure all loads.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
- Complete accurate paperwork, delivery records, and internal documentation.
- Learn company procedures, transportation requirements, and material handling processes.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, customers, and team members.
- Adapt routes as needed based on traffic and weather conditions.
- Maintain a clean and organized truck.
- Report mechanical issues promptly.
- Perform minor repairs and basic maintenance when required.
- Assist with cutting, processing, sorting, and handling materials during slower periods.
- Lift, bend, and move materials as necessary.
- Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
Qualifications
- Valid DZ License or higher.
- Clean driving abstract.
- Minimum 1 year roll-off truck experience.
- Willingness and confidence to drive regularly in Toronto and the GTA.
- Knowledge of transportation and safety regulations.
- Experience in the scrap metal, recycling, construction, waste, or transportation industries is considered an asset.
- Mechanical aptitude and automotive repair experience are considered strong assets.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Physically capable of lifting, bending, climbing, and working outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Flexible availability, including Saturday mornings and overtime as required.
- Reliable transportation and ability to commute to Waterford daily.

Pay: $26.00-$30.00 per hour
