Position Summary
The Physician Assistant will work collaboratively with fertility specialists, nurses, embryologists, and administrative staff to support the delivery of high-quality fertility care. The Physician Assistant will assist with patient assessments, treatment coordination, education, procedures, and follow-up care throughout the fertility journey. The Physician Assistant role is designed to improve patient access, support our Reproductive Endocrinology Physicians, and manage patient volume and demand.
This role requires strong clinical judgment, exceptional communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Conduct patient histories and preliminary assessments.
- Review diagnostic testing and assist with treatment planning under physician supervision.
- Provide patient education regarding fertility investigations, medications, and treatment protocols.
- Support IVF, IUI, egg freezing, donor, and surrogacy programs.
- Document patient encounters accurately within the EMR system.
- Review laboratory and ultrasound results and communicate next steps to patients.
- Participate in monitoring treatment cycles and coordinating follow-up care.
- Collaborate closely with nursing, laboratory, and administrative teams to ensure seamless patient care.
- Support quality improvement, patient safety, and regulatory compliance initiatives.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to clinic policies and professional standards.
Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant program.
- Canadian Certified Physician Assistant (CCPA) designation awarded by CAPA.
- Current registration in good standing with CAPA.
- Clinical experience preferred.
Skills:
- Strong clinical and diagnostic skills.
- Experience with EMR systems.
- Excellent communication, adaptability, and teamwork skills.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with sound judgment, discretion, and initiative when handling confidential patient information and responding to inquiries.
- Ability to effectively convey detailed information and explanations.
- Current registration/licensure to practise in Ontario.
- Experience in women’s health, fertility, obstetrics and gynecology, endocrinology, or primary care is preferred.
- Proficiency in EMR systems and clinical documentation.
- Commitment to compassionate, inclusive, and patient-centred care.
- Demonstrated satisfactory work performance and attendance.
