Oak Bay Parks, Recreation and Culture is seeking a skilled and organized individual for the Facilities Maintenance Person/Technician. Under the direction of the Facilities Maintenance Lead Hands this position is responsible for performing operational and mechanical maintenance functions including, but not limited to, building heating systems, pool heating and filtration, air filtration systems, air support structures, arena ice making and maintenance, pool chemical treatment and maintenance, as well as custodial tasks as required. Applicants should have a good knowledge of refrigeration, heating and filtration systems and air support structures used in arenas, pools, ice rinks, tennis bubbles, food service areas, including safe handling of chemicals necessary for the protection of staff and the public, together with a sound working knowledge of all trades including carpentry, plumbing, welding, and painting. QUALIFICATIONS
- Refrigerator Operator Certification, or 5th Class Power Engineer Refrigeration endorsement.
- Minimum of 5 years closely related mechanical and operational experience in recreation facilities maintenance, including pools, arena, tennis bubbles, with refrigeration and pool filtration systems.
- Pool Operator Level 1 and Level 2 certifications.
- Current Emergency First Aid & CPR C certifications.
- Valid B.C. Driver’s License.
- Provision of a current Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening (Note: This is theapplicant’s financial responsibility to obtain this).
HOURS OF WORK Varied 5-week rotation (40 hours per week):
o Monday/Tuesday – 2:00-10:00pm
o Wednesday/Thursday/Friday – 8:00am-4:00pm
o Monday-Friday – 2:00-10:00pm
o Wednesday-Sunday – 2:00-10:00pm

RATE
- Day Shift: $34.32 (step 1) - $36.71 (step 3) – 2024 rates
- Afternoon Shift: $33.51 (step 1) - $35.47 (step 3) – 2024 rates
STATUS Permanent Full-Time (This is a union position)
