Site Supervisor - St. John's Port Authority
Newfoundland and Labrador’s primary and most advanced container terminal, the St. John’s Port Authority (SJPA) serves as the province’s main offshore energy supply and service centre and a destination of choice for the cruise ship industry. The Port of St. John’s has become a strategic transportation hub and a key economic driver in the region.
The SJPA plays a vital role in both daily marine operations and long-term planning and development of the port.

Hours: Monday – Thursday, 0630–1830

Overtime: After 48 hours/week

Pay Rate: $24.00/hour
Typical Duties & Responsibilities
-
Oversee and supervise daily security operations at the St. John’s Port Authority site
-
Provide leadership, guidance, and support to on-site security staff
-
Ensure compliance with site procedures, Port Authority regulations, and Paladin standards
-
Conduct regular patrols, inspections, and audits to maintain a safe and secure environment
-
Monitor access control, vessel activity, and surveillance systems (CCTV)
-
Respond to and manage incidents, emergencies, and escalations effectively
-
Review and ensure accuracy of reports, logs, and documentation
-
Act as the primary liaison between Paladin management, SJPA stakeholders, and the security team
-
Support scheduling, training, and performance management of staff
-
Identify and mitigate risks and security concerns proactively
-
Provide additional support to the site and team as operational needs arise

Valid Security License (Newfoundland and Labrador)
-
Valid Restricted Area Identity Card (RAIC / R2) – required

Valid First Aid & CPR Level C (CSA-approved)

Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with a clean driver’s abstract
-
Strong English communication skills (verbal and written)

Minimum 2–3 years of supervisory experience in security or related field

Experience in port, marine, or industrial environments considered an asset

Certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behaviour (MOAB) preferred
