Job Overview
Reporting to the Regional Controller, as the Accountant you are responsible for all accounting activities for your assigned companies. You provide accounting services and expertise that contribute to the success of the company.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

Posting journal entries working closely with the accounts payable, construction, and accounting teams.

Maintaining the general ledger, preparing balance sheet account reconciliations and identifying and resolving variances.

Leading the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timeliness across all financial data.

Ensuring financial records are maintained in accordance with applicable accounting standards and internal company policies.

Improving and documenting accounting workflows and processes.

Taking ownership of the tools and systems used in day-to-day accounting, with a focus on reducing manual work and increasing confidence in the numbers

Driving standardization and consistency across all accounting activities.

Assisting in year-end reviews, forecasting and budget preparations.

Providing support to other accounting related activities as required.

Essential Requirements

Minimum 3 years of experience in accounting, including full-cycle accounting.

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Commerce, or Finance.

Satisfactory criminal record check.

Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Programs (Outlook, Word, Teams, SharePoint and PowerPoint) and accounting software (NewStar or similar).
Preferred Qualifications
-
Previous accounting experience related to homebuilding (new home builds) or supply chain/home service companies (mechanical, plumbing, drywall, flooring) is an asset.

Pursuing CPA designation is an asset but not required.

You primarily work in an office setting during regular business hours. Overtime may occasionally be required.
