- Completion of a one-year Pre-Service Firefighter program or current OFM certification or recognized equivalency (e.g., Letter of Compliance) in NFPA 1001 (Fire Fighter Level I and II), NFPA 1072 (Hazardous Materials Awareness and Operations), and NFPA 1041 (Fire Instructor Level I) is required
- Minimum five years of experience as a First-Class Firefighter with a career department as a suppressionist is required
- OFM-NFPA 1041 Fire Instructor II is required
- Minimum of three years of adult or post-secondary level teaching experience required
- Experience with curriculum development is an asset
- Knowledge and experience of computer systems (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite) and educational technologies (e.g. D2L) is preferred
- Demonstrated exceptional presentation, communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of an academic team
- Demonstrated ability to relate to learners and providing a positive learning environment to students working at different skill levels including international students and students requiring accommodation is an asset
- Strong commitment to academic excellence and student success, and ability to support Conestoga’s continuous quality improvement initiatives
- Strong relationships with industry contacts and network connections are an asset
- Ability to safely perform instructional demonstrations involving lifting, carrying, and controlling loads of up to 83 kg for brief periods
The successful candidate will be required to conduct work within Ontario and must be available to work on campus according to program needs. Employment commences in August 2026, and the vacation period for this position will be scheduled during the spring term.

Compensation is determined using a standardized wage calculation that considers education, relevant industry experience, and teaching experience. The posted annual range represents the minimum and maximum salary range in accordance with the Academic Collective Agreement. Successful candidates will receive an individualized wage calculation at the time of offer.
