JOB TITLE: Warehouse & Community Distribution Driver
REPORTS TO: Warehouse Lead, Operations Manager
TYPE OF POSITION: Full Time
HOURS: 40 hours/week
SALARY: $22.00 – $26.00/hour depending on experience
Job Purpose
The Warehouse & Community Distribution Driver supports the daily operations of the Wood Buffalo Food Bank warehouse and community distribution programs. This role is responsible for assisting with warehouse organization, collecting and transporting food donations, supporting the Mobile Pantry program, and helping ensure food is distributed safely and efficiently throughout the community. By supporting both warehouse operations and community pickups, this individual helps ensure the smooth flow of food from donors to those in need.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Warehouse Duties
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe warehouse environment.
- Assist with sorting and organizing incoming food donations.
- Maintain accurate records of donations received and distributed.
- Build and prepare food hampers as required.
- Ensure proper food storage procedures are followed.
- Monitor and record refrigerator and freezer temperature readings and ensure cleanliness.
- Support with inventory organization and stock rotation.
- Answer phones in a professional and friendly manner and take messages when necessary.
- Respond to emails promptly and redirect inquiries to appropriate staff where required.
Community Pickup & Distribution Duties
- Collect food donations from grocery stores, schools, community bins, and other partner organizations.
- Safely load, transport, and unload food using Food Bank vehicles.
- Support delivery and distribution of food through the Mobile Pantry program and other community distribution initiatives.
- Assist with food deliveries to partner agencies and community organizations as required.
- Maintain communication with warehouse staff regarding pickups, deliveries, and inventory.
- Ensure vehicles are kept clean and report maintenance issues as needed.
Volunteer Support
- Assist with coordinating and supporting volunteers during warehouse shifts.
- Provide direction to volunteers assisting with sorting food, packing hampers, or organizing inventory.
- Support volunteer shift preparation and daily setup.
Cross Training
- All staff members will undergo cross-training in various positions to ensure seamless service delivery to clients, volunteers, donors, and community partners.
- All staff share responsibility for the general cleaning, maintenance, and upkeep of the organization.
Other Duties
- Provide support to other positions as required.
- Attend fundraising events or community events as schedules permit.
- Perform any additional duties as directed by the Management Team or Executive Director.
Experience
- Positive attitude and strong work ethic are essential.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact with volunteers, donors, and community members.
- Excellent organization and communication skills.
- Experience in food bank, warehouse, logistics, or food security environments is considered an asset.
- Experience working with volunteers is considered an asset.
Qualifications
- Minimum high school diploma or equivalent.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Class 5 Driver’s License with a clean driver’s abstract.
- Experience driving larger vehicles such as cube trucks is considered an asset.
- Willingness to learn and acquire new skills.
