Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Skim Coat Level 5 technician to join our construction team. The ideal candidate will possess advanced drywall finishing skills, specializing in smooth, high-quality surface preparation for painting and finishing. This role requires precision, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently on large-scale projects. The Skim Coat Level 5 technician will be responsible for applying and finishing skim coats to achieve a flawless surface that meets industry standards.
Responsibilities
- Apply Level 5 skim coats using appropriate tools and techniques to achieve a smooth, even surface.
- Prepare surfaces by cleaning, sanding, and priming as necessary before applying skim coats.
- Ensure proper mixing and application of joint compounds or finishing materials according to project specifications.
- Inspect finished surfaces for imperfections, making necessary touch-ups to meet quality standards.
- Collaborate with project managers and other trades to coordinate work schedules and ensure timely completion of tasks.
- Maintain a clean work environment by organizing tools and disposing of waste materials properly.
- Follow safety protocols and use personal protective equipment at all times during application processes.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in drywall finishing, specifically at Level 5 skim coating (minimum of 3 years preferred).
- Strong knowledge of drywall materials, tools, and finishing techniques.
- Ability to read and interpret project specifications and blueprints.
- Excellent attention to detail with a focus on achieving a high-quality finish.
- Good physical stamina for prolonged standing, sanding, and working at heights if necessary.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced construction environment.
- Reliable transportation and the ability to adhere to project schedules.
- Certification or training in drywall finishing is a plus but not required.
