Position Summary:
This hands-on role is responsible for preparing and masking parts for industrial coatings. Masking Operators are detail-oriented, dependable, and experienced with hand tools and industrial prep processes. Masking Operators have extremely strong/steady manual dexterity to mask and demask parts as indicated by customer specification.
Schedule:
Days (7am - 3:30pm) M-F
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Mask parts as per drawing requirements, using tape, plugs, and templates based on specifications for painting and/or powder coating
- Follow blueprints or work instructions accurately
- Translate technical drawings or route cards into exact physical masking requirements
- De-mask parts after painting and powder coating
- Accurately apply pre-cut stencils, liquid masking agents, or specialized tapes to intricate components
- Conduct visual inspection to ensure masked lines are crisp and protect critical tolerances as per customer specifications
- When required, work with quality department to ensure that parts are correct.
- Reject products outside of specifications
- Log on to jobs through ERP System
- Transfer information and knowledge across shifts as required; Work as a team to ensure completion of product in a timely manner
- Clean and maintain work area by supporting 6S program
- All other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Experience in the aerospace industry and asset
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Experience in masking using tape, paint, or wax preferred
- Ability to read blueprint and work to specifications preferred
Required Skills/Competencies:
- Excellent hand-eye coordination, steady hands, and the ability to work in varying physical positions
- Experience using precision tools like calipers or micrometers considered an asset
- Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required

Working Conditions:
Physical
- Work is normally performed in a manufacturing environment.
- Frequently required to sit for long durations.
- Frequently lift and/or move up to 35 pounds
- Some computers use, working with the ERP system, etc.
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment such as safety shoes, safety goggles, ear plugs, etc. as required
Mental
- Must have a strong attention to detail and be able to maintain focus for long period of time.
- Must be able to take on new assignments as required
- Must work under deadlines and related stresses in a timely manner
- Must be able to handle various personnel and other situations as they arise in a professional manner
Required Experience:
- Experience in the aerospace industry and asset
Level of Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
