On behalf of our client, Grand River Personnel is recruiting experienced and self-driven candidates for an open vacancy as an Industrial Sanitation & Forklift Operator in an industrial bakery environment in Elmira, ON.
PLEASE NOTE: This is NOT a general cleaning position.
Qualified candidates MUST have previous industrial sanitation experience in a manufacturing or food production environment AND a valid external forklift license with practical operating experience.
Shift: Afternoons and nights, 40-48 hours per week. End times to vary based on production.
Pay Rate: $22.00 – $24.00 + 4% vacation pay added to each cheque weekly!
Responsibilities:
- Perform thorough cleaning and sanitizing of production equipment, machinery, conveyors, and processing areas while maintaining overall facility cleanliness, including common areas
- Handle waste removal, recycling, and scrap materials efficiently while restocking sanitation and paper supplies as needed
- Operate a propane counterbalance forklift to move materials and support sanitation tasks safely
- Follow established cleaning procedures, GMP standards, HACCP requirements, and company policies while identifying and addressing potential issues before they impact production
- Work independently with minimal supervision while supporting the broader team to ensure smooth plant operations and completion of daily sanitation schedules
- Safely handle and use cleaning chemicals, sanitation equipment, and required PPE
Requirements:
- Minimum 1 year of industrial sanitation experience in a food manufacturing, food processing, bakery, beverage, pharmaceutical, or similar production environment
- Valid external propane forklift license and previous forklift operating experience (required)
- Strong ability to work independently, take initiative, and anticipate operational needs in a fast-paced setting
- Knowledge of GMP, SOPs, HACCP/BRC standards, and general health & safety practices
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a clean, safe, and audit-ready environment
- CSA-approved waterproof safety footwear
- Flexibility to work afternoon/night shifts and overtime as required
- Must follow all PPE requirements and safe work practices at all times
- Physically able to lift up to 25 kg and perform repetitive movements including walking, bending, twisting, pushing, pulling, and climbing stairs
- Comfortable working in wet environments and around industrial cleaning chemicals
