OUR LOCATIONS
As part of the Paul Davis franchise network, our Company currently operates in the Windsor & Essex, Chatham-Kent, and Sarnia & Lambton territories. Collectively, these locations are referred to throughout this Job Description as Paul Davis of Windsor & Essex, Chatham-Kent and Sarnia & Lambton (the "Company"). References to the "Company" include all current and future locations operated by the Company.
OVERVIEW:
The Estimate Writer is responsible for delivering on all expectations of the Company. Estimate Writers review the scope of work, prepare estimates for mitigation, repairs and contents to properties based on carrier guidelines. They provide support to Project Management Teams and communicate with insurance representatives and subcontractors. The desired outcome is to ensure the successful achievement of Company Key Performance Indicators (KPI) related to time, costs, margin and quality of services across all Company locations.
1. MAIN DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare estimates for all Company locations including materials, labour and equipment for emergency, contents and repair services, based on scope of work, drawings, inspection reports, or other documents provided by Project Management Teams.
- Comply with Insurance Client’s Service Level Agreements.
- Communicating with subcontractors, requesting and following up with quotes.
- Liaise, consult and communicate with Project Management Teams and Insurance Representatives to complete revisions to estimates.
- Collaborate with Project Management Teams to reduce costs and meet target direct margin on emergency, contents and repair estimates.
- Identify opportunities for enhancements and/or new procedures to improve workflow and reduce costs.
- Provide information for bids to Project Management Teams, as required.
- Leverage the usage of technology to improve and integrate data management and reporting.
- Ensure adherence to Ontario Building Code and safety standards, when preparing estimates.
- Complete onsite inspections, as required.
- Prepare various reports, as required.
- Improving project direct margin.
- Meeting timelines to complete estimates.
- Reduce estimate revisions and/or supplements.
- All other duties as assigned.

3. PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Frequently sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, kneeling and reaching.
- Capability to handle repetitive physical movements.
- Regular use of computers, mobile devices, telephones, tools, equipment, and other workplace technology, as applicable.
- Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to twenty-two (22) kg.
- Maintain concentration and perform work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions and competing priorities.
- Communicate professionally in person, by telephone, and electronically.
4. WORKING CONDITIONS
- Work in office or other locations as operational requirements dictate.
- Work evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime when necessary to meet operational requirements.
- Participate in the Company's emergency response and catastrophe (CAT) program.
- Respond to emergency situations, severe weather events, natural disasters, or other business disruptions.
- Exposure to varying environmental and job site conditions.
- Exposure to varying weather conditions, temperatures, noise levels, and environmental conditions.
- Travel within or outside the Company's service area as required.
- Ability to operate and transport; equipment or other employees in Company-owned vehicles.
- Comply with all applicable laws, Company driving policies, and insurance requirements.
5. HEALTH AND SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES

6. QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION:
a. Required:
- College Diploma in Construction Management, Construction Engineering Technology or a related field.
b. Preferred:
- Architectural Technology Diploma or
- Project Management Diploma
- Civil Engineering Technology Diploma
EXPERIENCE
a. Required:
- A minimum of 3 years estimate writing in a KPI driven environment.
b. Preferred:
- Experience with insurance restoration is an asset
- Familiarity with wood framed construction.
CERTIFICATIONS / LICENCES
a. Required:
- Valid full G driver’s license with a clean driver abstract.
b. Preferred:
- IICRC Water and Fire certificates are assets.
- Xactimate certifications are an asset.
7. GENERAL PROVISIONS:

COMPENSATION
Compensation for this position is anticipated to range from $60,000 to $70,000 annual salary, depending on qualifications, experience, and overall performance.
Benefits and RRSP matching are available after the successful completion of the six-month probationary period.
Longevity bonuses and departmental incentives may be available upon meeting applicable eligibility criteria. All compensation, benefits, bonus, and incentive programs are subject to Company policies and may be modified at the Company's discretion.
Hours of Work
Monday to Friday 8:00am- 5:00pm with one (1) hour unpaid lunch.
We require employees to be available outside of regular hours occasionally (when weather events occur) with ample notice, as our business involves providing essential emergency services.
