The Specialist, Professional Growth & Management (PG&M) supports the Director, Professional Resources in overseeing and administering all aspects of student and associate recruitment, as well as student and associate programs for the Vancouver and Calgary offices. Beyond the operational and coordination responsibilities of this role, the Specialist supports the Director in driving technology-enabled transformation of talent programs by identifying opportunities to integrate generative AI, automation, and digital solutions into recruitment, feedback processes, and career development initiatives. The Specialist participates in national and local talent management projects and initiatives as needed. The Specialist also provides administrative and coordination support to the PG&M national team as needed. This position is being posted as this is a new role for the department.
What You’ll Do
Student Recruitment & Program Administration
- Oversee the administration of student recruitment processes for both Vancouver and Calgary offices, including application intake, interview scheduling, and candidate communications.
- Administer summer and articling student programs, including managing law society filings, coordinating performance assessments, organizing social events, supporting hire back decisions, and coordinating onboarding and orientation activities.
- Maintain accurate records and timelines for student assessments and program milestones in both offices.
- Regularly review and update student recruitment and program processes to ensure efficiency and compliance with firm standards.
- Respond to inquiries from students, lawyers, and other departments regarding student programs and recruitment.
Law School Liaison Initiatives
- Collaborate with the Director to manage law school liaison initiatives, including outreach, event planning, sponsorship coordination, and relationship management with law schools and student organizations.
Associate Recruitment & Program Administration
- Support the hiring and onboarding process for new lawyers, including lateral recruitment coordination, candidate tracking, interview scheduling, and preparation of offer packages.
- Assist with performance management processes.
Talent Program Innovation & Transformation Support
- Support the Director and the national PG&M team in driving technology-enabled transformation of talent programs by identifying opportunities to integrate generative AI, automation, and digital solutions into recruitment, feedback processes, and career development and professional development initiatives, including piloting new technologies and evaluating their effectiveness.
- Support the Director and the national PG&M team in collaboration with technology and business operations teams to assist in the design and implementation of integrated talent management systems.
- Support the development of resources, training materials, and communications to facilitate the adoption of new tools and processes by firm members.
National Talent Management Projects & Initiatives
- Support additional local and national talent management projects as directed.
- Participate in national and local talent management projects and initiatives as needed, including innovation and professional development initiatives.
Team Support & General Administration
- Provide support and assistance to members of the national PG&M team as required, including administrative tasks, special projects, and coordination of professional development activities.
- Organize and maintain electronic files and records in the firm's document management system and leverage technology to facilitate reporting and analysis.
- Scheduling meetings, coordinating logistics, and supporting event planning for student and associate programs.
What You Bring
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in talent management, professional development, human resources or related administrative role in a law firm or professional services environment.
- Experience coordinating recruitment or professional development programs is an asset.
- Post-secondary education in administration, human resources, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- You have strong project management, organizational and interpersonal skills.
- You are detail-oriented and are able to effectively meet deadlines with on-going overlapping projects and initiatives.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong understanding of the Canadian legal industry and lawyer admission processes for the BC and AB law societies.
- You embrace evolving technology and have strong skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Experience with generative AI applications, workflow automation, or digital transformation initiatives will be a strong asset.
- Experience implementing or working with talent management platforms, learning management systems, or AI-enabled HR tools will be a strong asset.

Salary range: $70,000 - $80,000 annually
