We are seeking a full-time Accounting Support / Bookkeeper for a permanent position at our Toronto office. The ideal candidate has some hands-on accounting experience and is happy to support both AR/AP and general office administration with a positive and outgoing attitude.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting & Finance (AR/AP)
- Handle full-cycle Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR).
- Process vendor invoices, employee expenses, and supplier payments.
- Issue customer invoices and statements and follow up on overdue accounts.
- Ensure timely collection of outstanding payments.
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and key general ledger accounts.
- Assist with month-end closing and preparation of financial reports.
- Assist in preparing financial statements and supporting external accountants as needed.
Office Administration & Support
- Perform general office administrative duties (filing, scanning, mail, office supplies).
- Maintain organized digital and paper records, including accounting and customer files.
- Answer phones and emails, and direct inquiries to the appropriate team members.
- Support HR and management with onboarding documentation and staff training logistics.
- Help maintain and update internal databases and spreadsheets (customers, vendors, inventory, etc.).
- Assist with year-end audit preparation (gathering documents, reconciliations, confirmations).
- Other duties as required to support the administration and finance team.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in business, accounting, or a related field (college diploma or higher).
- At least 1 year of experience in a similar, hands-on accounting or bookkeeping role.
- Experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks or similar) is an asset.
- Strong Excel skills (formulas, basic reporting; pivot tables an asset).
- Detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Positive, professional, and team-oriented attitude.
