St. Jacobs Place Retirement Residence offers luxury retirement and assisted living in Ontario's rural gem, the village of St. Jacobs, at the northern edge of Kitchener Waterloo. The responsibilities of the cook role include but are not limited to:
- Prepare meals for residents and guests ensuring all dietary needs are met
- Ensures residents are satisfied with all aspects of food preparation and presentation
- Respond to resident and/or family member dietary related concerns in a timely manner assuring the concern is brought to the attention of the Culinary Manager
- Effectively communicate and interact with residents, family members, visitors and volunteers professionally
- Operate and clean food production equipment and food preparation areas
Cook Qualifications Include:
- Strong knowledge in homestyle farm to table meals
- ability to read and follow set recipes
- strong organizational and time management skills
- passion for food and the culinary industry
- current food handlers certification is an asset
- customer service oriented
The responsibilities of the dietary attendant role include but are not limited to:
- Delivering seamless services to residents to create a pleasant dining experience
- Portion out and serve food and beverages within the dining room
- Wash dishes and utensils; operate dishwasher
- Stack clean dishes and utensils; also set, clear and clean dining tables
- Perform cleaning duties such as sweeping and mopping floors, cleaning and sanitizing counter tops, sinks, machines, and equipment and spot washing walls and splash areas
Qualifications:
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Understand and have experience with the Hazard Analysis & Critical Control Points
- Able to provide speedy, efficient, courteous, and tactful customer service while you work with other staff and function effectively in a team environment
- Ability and willingness to multitask, work effectively under pressure and flexible hours when necessary
This is a permanent part-time cook/dietary position. The cook shifts are a combination of either 7:00am to 1:30pm or 11:00 am to 6:00 pm and will be scheduled every second weekend. The considered candidate will be flexible and available for either shift with the ability to pick up shifts as needed. The dietary shifts (4:00 pm to 8:00 pm) including every other Thursday with room to expand.
