We are currently looking for a Registered Nurse, to join our team as a Clinical Scholar, and gain valuable health care experience for your future.
Reporting to the Manager of Clinical Development, and in collaboration with the Clinical Educator, the ideal candidate will mentor and support nursing graduates, internationally educated nurses (IENs) and nurses looking to upskill. The Clinical Scholar Program will focus exclusively on mentoring new and international nurses in their transition to WHGH and the clinical nursing workforce. The Clinical Scholar will not have a patient caseload, but will support the hospital’s academic development by advancing care through teaching and learning, and supporting the aforementioned nurses’ practice and integration into the clinical area in accordance with organizational and professional standards, and in collaboration with clinical teams. In addition, the Clinical Scholar will attend professional practice committee, complete quality improvement projects and participate in provincially required MOH CSP webinars (Community of Practice Meetings)
In conjunction with the Clinical Educator, the Clinical Scholar will create, adapt, and deliver orientation and learning resources, using various delivery methods in accordance with organizational and unit policies/practices/guidelines. The Clinical Scholar will provide an ongoing presence on the clinical unit(s) to support the ongoing development of the new graduates, as well as tracking and documentation of skillset achievement, and will provide ongoing monitoring and evaluation of the new graduate and the scholar program, including the creation of learning goals and objectives.

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS
1. Current Certification of Competence with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) as an RN (General Class); or nurses who have retired and are still registered with the CNO.
2. Minimum of five (5) years of experience with frontline nursing practice.
3. CNA Certification in a nursing practice specialty e.g. CCNC, CMSN, CPNC, ENC (preferred)
4. Completed RNAO Best Practice Champion Learning Series or in progress
5. Current BLS. (“Basic Life Support” through Heart & Stroke), and commitment to ongoing renewal.
6. Strong clinical skills and knowledge of WHGH resources.
7. High attention to detail, strong project management skills to prioritize and organize workload and achieve accuracy in meeting deliverables and deadlines.
8. Demonstrated mentorship skills, completion of preceptor workshop
9. Demonstrated ability to provide quality care and commitment to evidence-based practice and quality improvement
10. Demonstrated professional judgement, critical thinking and prioritization skills.
11. Excellent interpersonal, communication, team and customer service skills, with the ability to articulate clear expectations and work collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team.
12. Strong problem-solving abilities requires to resolve conflicts and negotiate with internal and external partners and collaborators to achieve desired outcomes.
13. Evidence of continuing education and commitment to ongoing professional development.
14. Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
15. Adherence to all health and safety policies, procedures and provisions and the recognition and reporting of unsafe hazards and work practices.
16. Satisfactory attendance and performance required
