We are opening a new Home in November 2026 that will support 256 residents in our community! The new Maple Villa is located on Palladium Way in north Burlington.
Position Summary:
Reporting to the Administrator, the Building Services Manager is responsible and accountable for the provision of effective Housekeeping, Laundry and Maintenance Services for the Home, residents and staff. Ensures the Home, it’s equipment and linens are in a state of good repair and cleanliness. Ensures a safe environment for residents, visitors and staff. Ensures that continuous quality improvement outcomes approved for the Home are met or exceeded, and demonstrates dedication to professional values and the mission, vision and values of the Home. Implements a culture focusing on resident and team member experience where we embrace “Better Living” by creating communities where ALL residents, families and staff thrive.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Organizes and manages all aspects of the Environmental Services department
- Participates in selection, evaluation, promotion/termination of environmental staff
- Responsible for formulation and maintenance of departmental policies and procedures, goals and objectives, performance appraisals
- Participates in the orientation process for residents, students, volunteers and staff
- Participates on Home, local and provincial committees
- Attends and participates in interdisciplinary care conferences
- Fiscally responsible for department
- Must actively participate in ongoing educational opportunities and transmits information regarding new developments and trends to staff
- Provides educational opportunities for staff, residents, families, volunteers and students related to the services of the department
- Uses the CQI/Risk Management process to evaluate and ensure follow-up
- Formulates a complete assessment of resident’s environmental services needs upon admission, ensuring a seamless transition and re-evaluates quarterly and as indicated
- Enhances the scope of the department by utilizing volunteers and student placements reinforcing the linkage to community resources and educational bodies
- Maintains a formal linkage with educational bodies and endorses the practice of research to promote the development of the services
- Adaptable and flexible; willing to perform a variety of tasks
- Maintains records in accordance with policies and procedures and government regulations for the Home
- Provides regular reports on Environmental Services and initiatives to the Administrator
- Responsible for human resources and labour relations management for the department
- With the support of Human Resources Business Partner participates in managing WSIB claims and the early and safe return to work program
- Required to promote wellness as a concept of living
- Implements and maintains a complete and comprehensive preventative maintenance program for the Home
- Maintains an effective Waste Management Program
- Ensures the availability of Emergency “on call” services
- Promotes strong community linkage for sharing of resources
- Performs basic hands-on general maintenance repairs and housekeeping duties associated with the home’s operation as needed
- Responsible for maintaining a safe workplace
- Coordinates the awarding and supervision of contracts and contractors working for the Home
- Performs any outside grounds maintenance as the seasons require
- Protects own health and health of others by adopting safe work practices, reporting unsafe conditions immediately and attending all relevant in-services regarding occupational health and safety
- Follows all roles and responsibilities for employees and employers as legislated under the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act
- Ensures compliance with the provisions of the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act
- Ensures linen and personal clothing is processed to acceptable standards
- Accountable to develop leadership in others
- Must actively participate in ongoing educational activities
- Promotes wellness as a concept of living
- Champions diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives that create a psychologically safe environment for residents, staff and others
- Participates in the manager on call and weekend on call rotations.

Qualifications:
- Experience in a managerial or supervisory capacity which may also include experience and demonstrated leadership in the health care field/setting or a relevant field/setting in accordance with the Fixing Long Term Care Act, 2021, Ontario Regulation 246/22 ss 246/22 ss. 98(2)
- A post-secondary degree or diploma is preferred
- Knowledge of evidence-based practices and prevailing practices relating to housekeeping, laundry and maintenance as applicable; and 5 years of maintenance related work experience preferred
- Good problem-solving skills and ability to develop conceptual alternatives
- Able to interpret and implement applicable laws and regulations
- Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
- Must be familiar with cleaning products
- Strong customer service orientation and skills
- Basic mathematical skills required
- Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment
- Ability to follow through and complete overlapping projects
- High degree of resourcefulness, flexibility, and adaptability
- High level of sound and independent judgment, reasoning, and discretion
- Working knowledge of the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act
- Valid Driver's License

Pay: $71,489.00-$78,929.00 per year
