Co-Reports To: Quality Manager
1. Summary of Position
This position is for co-op student or intern (preferably in Engineering) to take ownership of a high-impact project, focused on improving and scaling our Quality Management System (QMS) within a manufacturing environment.
This role will act as the lead owner of a defined quality improvement initiative, working closely with our Quality Manager, Leadership Team, and shop floor employees to design and implement meaningful system improvements.
2. Qualifications and Requirements

Currently enrolled in an Engineering program (Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or similar preferred)

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Interest in manufacturing, operations, or quality systems

Ability to take initiative and work independently while collaborating with a team

Strong communication skills—comfortable engaging both leadership and shop employees

Experience with quality tools (RCA, process mapping, etc.) is an asset
3. Duties and Responsibilities

Own and lead a QMS improvement project from assessment through implementation
-
Evaluate current quality processes and identify gaps and opportunities for improvement

Develop and implement enhancements to our ISO 9001-based quality system

Design and improve systems for:

Worker competency training, testing, and tracking

Quality performance measurement and reporting

Standardized work instructions and employee resources

Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) on quality issues and support corrective actions

Collaborate with:

Shop floor employees to understand real-world workflows

Leadership team to align improvements with business priorities

Help embed a culture of continuous improvement and accountability in quality
