Our team is looking for a Class 1 Truck Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of soil, aggregate, construction materials, equipment, and other approved materials to and from project sites, disposal facilities, and customer locations. In addition to driving responsibilities, this position might be called to support operations at the Headlands Environmental Services facility by assisting with truck traffic management, material placement activities, site logistics, equipment support, and general operational duties to ensure the efficient movement and processing of inbound and outbound materials.

- Mechanical aptitude and experience performing basic truck maintenance and repairs as asset

- Ability to complete required paperwork and accurately is required
- Excellent organizational and time management skills is required
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work effectively under pressure is required
Preferred Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Valid Class 1 Driver’s License with a clean driver’s abstract is required
- Air Brake Endorsement is required
- Minimum 5 years of commercial driving or dump truck experience
- Experience hauling soil, aggregate, construction materials, environmental industrial or environmental waste management, heavy equipment, or similar products considered an asset
- Experience operating dump trailers, transfer trailers, and related equipment is an asset
What a Typical Day Could Look Like:
Commercial Driving:
- Safely operate Class 1 commercial vehicles, including truck and trailer combinations, in accordance with company policies and applicable provincial/federal regulations
- Manage the transport soil, aggregate, construction materials, equipment, and other approved materials to designated locations and ensure equipment is roadworthy
- Manage daily truck operations and plan designated driving routes accordingly
- Conduct pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections and complete all required documentation
- Ensure loads are properly secured and transported safely and professionally
- Maintain compliance of accurate driver logs, inspection records, load tickets, and transportation documentation
- Report vehicle defects, incidents, and maintenance requirements promptly
- Comply with all applicable transportation regulations, road safety requirements, and company procedures
- Maintain truck cleanliness in an organized and professional manner
- Maintain a professional and courteous relationship with customers, contractors, and the public
Health & Safety Environmental Compliance:
- Follow all company safety policies, safe work procedures, and regulatory requirements
- Participate in safety meetings, inspections, training, and hazard assessments
- Immediately report incidents, near misses, unsafe conditions, and environmental concerns
- Immediately report mechanical issues promptly and coordinate repairs as required
- Ensure compliance with environmental permits, site rules, and operational procedures
- Wear and maintain required personal protective equipment (PPE)Promote a culture of safety and accountability throughout all operations
