Job Overview
H2Oil Energy Inc. is hiring an HSE Field Safety Coordinator to support safe operations across our fluid hauling, combo-vac, and hydro-vac divisions.
This position plays a hands-on role in the field, working alongside operators and supervisors to identify hazards, strengthen safe work practices, and ensure compliance with company and regulatory standards.
The role requires regular travel to active worksites and comfort working in field environments in all weather conditions. This is a local Grande Prairie and area position, and relocation assistance is not provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct field safety inspections and audits at active job sites.
- Identify and report hazards, ensuring compliance with H2Oil and OH&S standards.
- Participate in and support incident investigations and corrective actions.
- Facilitate and assist with Job Hazard Assessments (JHAs), Pre-Job Hazard Assessments, and Toolbox Talks.
- Provide coaching and mentorship to employees and supervisors on safe work practices.
- Maintain accurate safety records and documentation in the company’s HSE management system.
- Support transportation safety compliance, including vehicle inspections, driver files, and hours of service.
- Promote a strong safety culture through engagement and accountability in the field.
- Liaise with regulatory bodies and client representatives to help maintain strong working relationships.
Qualifications
Required:
- 1–3 years of safety experience in oilfield, industrial, or transportation operations.
- Strong understanding of OH&S legislation, TDG, WHMIS, and Hours of Service.
- Able to build positive working relationships and communicate effectively with customer on-site representatives to ensure safety expectations are met.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s licence with a clean abstract (Class 1 or 3 an asset).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and digital safety management systems.
- Comfortable working outdoors in field environments and various weather conditions.
Assets:
- NCSO or equivalent safety certification.
- Current safety tickets (H2S Alive, First Aid, Confined Space Entry, Fall Protection, CSO).
- Experience with combo-vac, fluid hauling, or hydro-vac operations.
- Knowledge of incident reporting systems or safety software platforms.
Working Conditions
- Field-based role (approx. 80% field / 20% office).
- Regular travel to worksites across North Western Alberta (Peace Region).
- Occasional evening or weekend work may be required.
